A Liebig condenser is a type of water-cooled condenser that is used to cool and condense vaporized chemical compounds. It usually consists of a straight glass tube surrounded by a larger outer glass tube, with water flowing through the space between the two tubes. The vaporized substance flows through the inner glass tube, where it comes into contact with the cool water flowing through the outer tube, causing it to condense and collect at the bottom of the condenser. The Liebig condenser is commonly used in laboratories for distillation and other chemical processes where it is necessary to cool and collect volatile liquids. It is named after German chemist Justus von Liebig, who invented it in the mid-19th century.
